F E E D B A C K.....What they have said to us.....

On the 21Jul10 a simple set of questions were sent around the email list. Here are the questions:-

1] Do you want to see the club continue?  Yes/No/Not bothered either way

2] Do you consider it a good club? Yes/No/Not sure

3] Are there any evenings which have made you reconsider whether to continue supporting us?  Yes/No/Tell us

4] Do you think there is one thing we could do differently that would improve the club?  Yes/No/Not bothered/Tell us

5] What do like least about the club? Nothing/Tell us

*****************

Here are the responses....( all anonymous)

1. YES.  We definitely would like club to continue!

2.  YES.  We love it!

3. NO.  Even if we think an act(s) is not particularly 'our cup of tea' we would not let it put us off coming as there are always very good/exciting performers that we would not have known of!

4.  YES.  Personally we would prefer it if the evening ended promptly at 10.30pm (allowing extra five mintues for 'encore').  Have noticed on occasions people appear to nod off slightly or slip out early (including ourselves).  We are very local but know that some people do come quite a journey to share an evening with us all which must sometimes mean a very late night home for them (especially if you are working early next day)!

5.  We like the informality of the club and appreciate the friendliness shown by your team who work hard for the club.  We find some members/ visitors appear slightly aloof and unfriendly but suspect they are not and are either just ''shy' or 'not in your face' people ~ so no real problem there!  We cannot always make the fourth Thursday evening because of our work commitments and we had decided to try and organise our work for next year not to coincide the club nights.  That, I hope, is an indication of how much we love and appreciate the club!

Do you want to see the club continue?    Yes

Do you consider it a good club?    Yes

Are there any evenings which have made you reconsider whether to continue supporting us?     No

Do you think there is one thing we could do differently that would improve the club?    Thursday nights often clash with our gig nights and/or work but that's just our tough luck - suspect for most Thursdays are a pretty good night - we will just have to come when we can!

What do like least about the club?    Nothing apart from the teeny niggle of real ale in tins - bottles always taste better (to us!).  Apart from that it's a lovely, friendly club with diverse acts big and small - only wish we could attend more often!

Do you want to see the club continue?  Yes, definitely
Do you consider it a good club? Yes (very good indeed)
Are there any evenings which have made you reconsider whether to continue supporting us?  No (have only been three times, once to George Papavgeris, once to Boo Hewerdine, once to Martin Carthy, but had a brilliant night on all occasions)
Do you think there is one thing we could do differently that would improve the club?  No. I like the "whip-round" philosophy (which I think most people are more than happy to contribute a reasonable amount to), and when a ticket price is charged it seems to be very fair (too cheap, actually, but I shouldn't say that - please don't change it!), bar is good, people are friendly, location is great too. Can't think of particular suggestions for improvement.

What do like least about the club? Nothing (as above, all seems fine to me!)

*****************

.....although I don't come to the club very often when I do I really enjoy it. I have come to the two Martin Carthy gigs and absolutely loved them. The last one also introduced me to Tim Laycock and I will certainly be coming to his next Sunray event.

Yes, I would like to see it continue. My Thursday attendance will always be sporadic and not during the summer because of prior commitments.

Yes, it is a good club.

I cannot think of any improvement nor what I like least about the club.

Are there any evenings which have made you reconsider whether to continue supporting us?  Yes/No/Tell us YES, IF AN UNKNOWN ACT I LOOK THEM UP ON YOU TUBE, IF NOT MUSICAL I SKIP THAT MONTH

Do you think there is one thing we could do differently that would improve the club?  Yes/No/Not bothered/Tell us .....A SMALL STAGE WOULD IMPROVE THE VISIBILIY. JUST 1 FOOT HIGH WOULD SUFFICE

What do like least about the club? Nothing/Tell us.............IT’S ALL GOOD

Do you think there is one thing we could do differently that would improve the club?  Yes – I could probably get to it more often if it was on a Friday!

It’s on Thursday...

There has been the odd act, singer or group that has not appealed to us but overall you have catered for all the different styles and you have been very successfullyYou appear to please most of the people most of the time

Do you think there is one thing we could do differently that would improve the club?  Yes....It is difficult for you as in common with most Folk Clubs you start and finish far to late for us, and we think it is in bad taste if we leave before or during the main or last performer has finished.  Perhaps the interval could be shorter.  I know it is our fault for living so far away in Poole.

What do like least about the club? ....  A certain singer always seems to sing along with the main performers a little behind and slightly out of tune each time and I am too polite to ask him to refrain from doing this.  It is most annoying and spoils our enjoyment the performance. But hey, let live and let live.

For us personally this year so far it has been a little difficult to attend every month but we have always enjoyed your club and appreciate the personal effort you put into making it a successful club and we like to support you.  Hopefully in the Autumn our Thursday Evenings will be now otherwise free.

Would be there more except it’s a longish way (20 miles) and the Thursday often clashes!

yes    a good club keep it going.... e mail info is efficient too thanks

*****************

Do you want to see the club continue?  Yes/ because we love live music

Do you consider it a good club? Yes/Yes/ because on the one occasion we attended (Boo) , the atmosphere was great

Are there any evenings which have made you reconsider whether to continue supporting us?  As above - but it quite a long way for us to go from Crewkerne. We tend to support South Petherton arts centre for live music - we were attracted by the slightly bigger 'name' of boo recently, and joined for that reason

Do you think there is one thing we could do differently that would improve the club?  I guess realistically it would the names that attract us to travel a bit. when we go locally to music venues, it is for the likes of John Tams, Steve Ashley, Michael Chapman, etc
What do like least about the club? Nothing
